October and November are full of celebrations in Andhra homes. Sweets are exchanged, relatives visit, and there is always something fried on the table. None of this needs to be avoided. Festivals are part of a happy, healthy life.
The trouble usually isn't one festival meal. It is the small extras that pile up over several weeks. These habits help you enjoy the season without losing the progress you have made.
Habits that help
- Don't skip breakfast before a function. Arriving very hungry makes it much harder to stop at one or two sweets. A protein-rich breakfast like pesarattu or eggs keeps you steady.
- Choose your favourites. Instead of tasting everything, pick the two or three sweets you love most and enjoy them slowly.
- Use a smaller plate. At functions and buffets, a smaller plate naturally keeps portions in check.
- Share sweet boxes. When sweet boxes arrive at home, share them with neighbours instead of keeping them all.
- Keep walking. A 15 to 20 minute walk after a heavy meal helps digestion and keeps your routine going.
- Drink water, not just sweet drinks. Festival days are busy and it is easy to forget water. Keep a bottle with you.
Back on track the next day
One heavy day does not undo weeks of good habits. Simply go back to your usual meals the next morning. There is no need to skip meals or make up for the festival.
Your coach can help you plan a simple festival week that fits your goals.
