Kadapa summers are long and hot, and many people simply forget to drink water until they feel thirsty. Low water intake can leave you feeling tired, give you headaches, and is often mistaken for hunger.
Habits that help
- Start the morning with water. Keep a glass or bottle by your bed and drink it before your tea or coffee.
- Keep a bottle where you work. If water is in front of you, you will drink it.
- Link it to things you already do. A glass before each meal and after each bathroom break is an easy routine.
- Use majjiga and lemon water. Plain buttermilk and nimbu water without sugar count too, and are good in the heat.
- Check the colour. Pale yellow urine usually means you are drinking enough. Dark yellow is a sign to drink more.
Watch the sugary drinks
Packaged juices, colas and sweetened lassi add a lot of sugar. Water, buttermilk and coconut water are better everyday choices.
People with kidney or heart conditions may need a specific fluid limit. Please follow your doctor's advice.
